Love it: the M.A.C X Rocky Horror Picture Show collection

The first thing that hit me when I saw the visuals for the soon to be released M.A.C Cosmetics X Rocky Horror collection was “why the hell hasn’t this happened before?” There's no cult classic film that lends itself to a makeup collection as brilliantly as the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and all that entails. Dr. Frank-N-Furter, played gloriously by Tim Curry, sports some intense eye contouring and glossy lipstick, whilst Magenta's bedroom eyes are the stuff of beauty dreams, and Columbia leaves a trail of glitter everywhere she goes.
To celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary, M.A.C has rolled out a 21-piece colour collection that channels all the glitz, glam, gaudiness and glitter of the cult favourite, and I love it. “It is hard to believe it has been almost 40 years since we released The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but as we approach this milestone anniversary, the film is as outrageously entertaining and relevant as it ever was,” said Lou Adler, the film’s executive producer. “It has certainly taken on a life of its own, and continues to transcend generations and hold a solid spot in pop culture year after year.” Amen to that!
Of course, no Rocky Horror-themed collection would be complete without a statement red lipstick, and to my excitement, the collection includes four different hues to flatter pretty much everyone. We all need a killer red and M.A.C most definitely don’t shirk in that department, and these are beautiful. The collaboration also includes some beautiful loose glitters (my fave, pictured) and pigments, a six-pan shadow palette, multi hued eye liners, faux lashes and mascaras, nail lacquers, and a variety of sculpting and setting powders so you can nail the perfect, dramatic eye in time for the late night double feature.
It just seems like such a perfect alliance, and the product line up seriously doesn’t disappoint. M.A.C’s Rocky Horror collection will land in store at selected New Zealand M.A.C counters on November 10.
