Hair how to: Sonia Rykiel Spring/Summer 2015 by Guido for Redken

Another one of my favourite runway shows each season, Sonia Rykiel is always a riot of sexy, feminine luxe with a bit of retro vibe that I can’t get enough of.

This season in Paris the collection was reportedly inspired by the effortless sexuality of the 60’s and 70’s eras, and Redken Global Styling Director Guido created the perfect hair look to go with that used both subtle volume and texture to enhance the sensual side of the Sonia Rykiel woman. Applying Redken’s Guts 10 to damp hair to slightly boost height at the crown, Guido finished with Redken’s Signature Look Wind Blown 05 dry finishing spray to create an undone ease reminiscent of prior decades.

“We have very sexy girls here with beautiful hair, all with an air of ease and sensuality,” said the styling supertsar. “We used Redken’s Guts 10 first and roughly blow-dried the hair. I took a large barrel iron to bend the hair and created a bit of height in the crown, encouraging it to come forward with a slight lift. Redken’s Signature Look Wind Blown 05 dry finishing spray gives the hair some texture so it does not feel too blow-dried – it sort of ages the hair. It is very sexy but very easy hair, with a few girls wearing a deeper side-part to create more of a beautiful French feel.”

It is how I wish my hair looked every day, and is the perfect style for summer party season and affecting après-beach insouciance by far.

To re-create the look:

1. Apply Redken Pillow Proof Express Primer to damp hair, layering with Redken Guts 10 root targeted volume spray foam.

2. Blow-dry hair with a round brush, making sure the front pieces are smooth while also adding a bit of height toward the front of the head.

3. Select several random pieces of hair in front of the crown and curl using a 1-inch curling iron, keeping the hairs’ natural texture.

4. Create a messy part, or a very small side-part for a more side-swept look.

5. Apply Redken Signature Look Wind Blown 05 dry finishing spray all over hair for added texture.

6. Look goddamn fabulous!
