All about: Diptyque Les Rituels de Soin

Anyone who checks in here regularly will know that I’m powerless in the face of all things Diptyque, and when I heard about their newest offering dropping this month? I was immediately obsessed.
The forever-innovating, heritage fragrance house has unveiled what it hails as its personal holistic vision of body care with the launch of the Diptyque Les Rituels de Soin – a full expression of the Maison’s expertise in sensoriality.
The Ancient Greeks and Romans knew a thing or two about the art of bathing. From the fragrant oils and botanicals they would slather all over their bodies to the elaborate rituals conducted in their respective bath houses, these ancient civilisations helped shape how we self-care today. Now, Diptyque is taking cues from their bathing customs with an ultra-luxe bath and body collection for morning and night.
The house has been cultivating its holistic vision of well-being since 1961, when it was founded by three friends with a passion for art and ancient cultures. Every creation – be it a candle, fragrance or decorative object – was crafted to help awaken the senses and restore the connection between body and soul.

The Diptyque Les Rituels de Soin were conceived as a complete ritual for restoring the connection between body and soul, bookending the day. The individual rituals invite the user to enjoy a sensorial interlude at two key points: the hours of the morning and evening.
The day begins with Le Matin, a bright and verdant candle with notes of ginger and mint that aims to help stimulate, illuminate, and energize the mind and body. The morning ritual collection features a dry brush for boosting circulation, a bergamot and sweet almond-infused cleansing gel and soft body sponge, a body lotion with neroli and linseed oil, a hair oil, and a nourishing lip wax. It also comes with a body scrub, made from hazelnut shells, that’s meant to be used a few times a week.
At night, the Le Soir candle kicks off the wind-down ritual with a light and soothing chamomile and sage scent. The candle is accompanied by the cleansing gel and body sponge again, along with a rich soothing body balm with notes of roasted barley and rose and a relaxing oil-in-oil formula that coddles skin and restores suppleness with a blend of hazelnut and sweet almond oils. Rounding out the collection is a ceramic gua sha designed to release tension, loosen stiff muscles, and sculpt the body, and a balmy lip wax as the final step.

One of the things I found most fascinating about the offering was the careful choice of the raw materials used to create the collection. The fragrance concentrates are composed of an amazing 100 percent naturally derived ingredients, and the formulas are up to 100 percent natural. Even the smallest details receive constant attention: water, for example, is used sparingly so to ensure optimal conservation over time.
They have also transformed every scent into an active ingredient in its own right, an approach central to their collaboration with perfumer Nathalie Cetto, who oversaw the creation of the entire range. The fragrance becomes much more than a complement to the body care experience – it amplifies and extends its effects, making each gesture part of a complete sensorial experience.
I love that the care rituals created by Diptyque bring the customs of the thermal baths of antiquity into the present. Fragrances, materials, and gestures have been transformed into conduits for an immersive experience that benefits body and soul in equal measure, and the end result is a suite of superlative must-haves.

The collection is available in Aotearoa right now, in store and online at MECCA.
