Fragrance Friday: ELIZABETH ARDEN ETERNAL AURA Eau de Parfum
Are you looking to inject a hint of sparkling floral and unabashed whimsy into your fragrance collection for the new season? I don’t blame you, and with spring finally making its presence felt it’s time to splash out on a new scent - with floral the fragrance family of the season as blossoms hit their peak.
With all that in mind, a couple of weeks ago I was invited to the launch of Elizabeth Arden’s first flagship fragrance launch in eight years, a huge moment for the brand and one worthy of celebration. And yep, it’s a floral - a luminous new Eau de Parfum that captures the essence of modern femininity, empowering women everywhere to feel unapologetically confident.
I have to admit that Elizabeth Arden isn't the beauty name that immediately comes to mind when it comes to the floral fragrance pick of the season, having become more associated of late with high-performing skincare like their game-changing Retinol + HPR. Their fragrances have slipped under my radar somewhat – apart from White Tea that is, a core classic – but here we are, with a killer new scent to celebrate that causing quite the stir. Not just because millennial girl-crush Leighton Meester is the face of the new creation, but because it genuinely is a timeless spring scent.
Called Eternal Aura, it’s a floral amber fragrance, vibrant and unapologetically feminine. It opens with a sparkling burst of dragon fruit, golden pear and pink pepper, mingling with delicate magnolia and peony scents, while an exclusive Elizabeth Arden co-distillate of rose and ambrette forms the heart of the scent. This unique signature is then wrapped in warm sandalwood, creamy musk, and a hint of tonka bean, creating a sensual yet modern finish. Offering a fresh perspective on the amber category, Eternal Aura is pure joy, and comes with an exciting new extra in the form of a beautifully silky body balm.
Co-created by Senior Perfumer Natasha Côté-Mouzannar and Master Perfumer Anne Flipo with IFF's Science of Wellness™, this fragrance features natural ingredients scientifically proven to enhance energy, self-esteem, and happiness.
The bottle design was inspired by the legacy of Ms. Arden herself, an elegant silhouette that draws from the timeless sophistication of Elizabeth Arden Salons, a place where women came to feel their best. The cap and carton feature a monogram pattern once found in the salons as a decorative wallpaper, beautifully reimagined in brushed gold to complement the original Arden Pink.
On initial spray, the fragrance is pure fruity floral, but it also has an elegant powdery lightness to it that is the dream match for the season. A spicy warmth from the amber also develops over time, and it’s a scent that really lasts – especially when layered with the nourishing body balm. I love!
The new Eternal Aura Eau de Parfum retails at $185 NZD and the Body Balm at $76 NZD an si available now at Elizabeth Arden counters at Farmers nationwide and at elizabetharden.co.nz.
