I try: a Snowberry Facial at East Day Spa

I’ve been a huge fan of Snowberry – New Zealand first premium all natural skincare brand – since they launched around five years ago, and a keen user of their original and Bright Defense ranges. Despite being still relatively unknown in New Zealand outside the group of dedicated clients who frequent their counters at the like of Auckland’s Smith & Caughey’s, they are really quite the buzz in Europe, where some of the continents best spas are offering luxurious treatments using their products.
I was dreadfully excited then to hear that East Day Spa in Auckland and Wellington are now offering Snowberry facials, and even more so when I got to cross their heavenly threshold and actually try one.
The venue was their Auckland location beneath the SKYCity Grand Hotel, and my therapist was the incredibly knowledgeable Kathleen, who explained to me exactly why she’d fallen in love with the brand. “It really works,” she told me, “as well as being so good for you. My clients are really loving it.”
The facial that Kathleen chose with my skin’s needs in mind was the 60-minute Snowberry Premium facial using the brand’s Pro-Collagen range and salon-only rejuvenating mask. She began with a double cleanse using the Instant Deep Cleanser, following by a gentle sloughing with the Nourishing Exfoliator and an application of their Gentle Remineralising Toner. Next up she used my absolute favourite Snowberry product – namely the incredible Soothing Facial Massage Oil - to massage my face for several minutes before applying a couple of pumps of their Intensive Renewal Face Serum. The salon-only Rejuvenating Facial Mask was next, an ingenious formula that sets on the skin and becomes rubberized whilst it’s doing its thing. This means a super easy removal, before the Smoothing Eye Serum and Nourishing Rich Day Cream were popped on before I went back out into the world. Oh and an East Day Spa treatment wouldn’t be complete without a massage element, which took place whilst the mask was doing its work and left my feet feeling heavenly.
The Pro-Collagen range by Snowberry is one I hadn’t tried before but am very tempted to now – super nourishing and rich, it’s the ideal skincare plan for winter if you’re thirty-plus and looking for a hydration boost that repairs too.
