Want it: brand new Tom Ford Beauty

His collection of high-pigment lipsticks proved a huge commercial success, and despite their higher-than-average price tag sold out all over the world. Now Tom Ford has announced that he is to expand his beauty offering to include a full range of cosmetics and skincare, which is hugely exciting news for fans of the man like me. The line, which will hit Northern Hemisphere stores in September, takes its inspiration from the Seventies, with a back-to-basics approach to bold colour and some seriously luxe packaging.
The designer, 49, unveiled the range last week, along with a campaign in which he co-stars with supermodel Lara Stone.
“My intention was to do colour cosmetics out of the gate, but not everyone else was convinced that I had a voice in colour until the lipsticks started selling out again and again,” he revealed to the press. How wrong were they!
He added that a practical approach, leaning on his years as an architecture student, formed the basis of the collection. “I don’t like B.S. and a lot of promises, and there are a lot of products out there you don’t even need,” he told the lucky few at the big reveal. “You need to understand the face and compensate for the architecture of the face. A nice thick brow is the key to a youthful look.”
He created the range with top British make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury, and has also developed a skincare line, which includes a serum, primer and cleanser. I predict that this will fly off the shelves the minute it touches down, and will continue to do so for many years to come.
I’m absolutely head over heels in love with the ad campaign too, which features Lara and the handsome Texan designer, shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott instead of by Ford or Terry Richardson as the designer's campaigns have been in the past.
