In 2025, you can’t enter the beauty aisle of a supermarket or run your fingers over the temptations in your local MECCA or Sephora without spotting a product with “milk” in the name. Some are toners and essences while others are dewy moisturisers and cleansers, but one thing is for sure: they most likely don’t contain milk at all. Confused? What Exactly Is A Skin Milk?
The most common of milk-related beauty products is the skin milk. Which despite the name, doesn’t actually contain any milk at all. It’s all about the texture – they're usually smooth and silky, and designed to coat your skin barrier like a dewy, soothing blanket. Usually, these formulas deliver hydrating humectants and soothing ingredients in spades, and as a milky product typically contains both oil and water-soluble ingredients, they are particularly good for sensitive, dry skin and those with compromised skin barriers. Also great for oilier skin types, the liquid consistency is light enough to sink into the skin without clogging pores while moisturising and soothing skin.
