Beauty review: Clinique Even Better Clinical™ Vitamin Makeup SPF 25
I am most definitely here for the growing ‘skinification’ of makeup trend that is turning the beauty world on its head, and IMHO, any foundation or concealer that doesn’t come with skin health benefits is just not worth its salt. Be your preference matte, satin, sheer or dewy finish, there is a skincare-makeup hybrid product out there with your name on it just begging to be loved.
The latest formula I’ve fallen in love with is Clinique’s Even Better Clinical™ Vitamin Makeup SPF 25, and the good stuff is right there in the name. A beautifully lightweight, oil-free foundation with SPF 25 and a vitamin-rich formula for more vibrant, healthy-looking skin, it has become one of my favourite daytime wears that delivers luminosity without greasiness and is the dream for making your skin look like well, your skin… but better.
The details
The dermatologist-tested formula is rich in vitamins that help support skin’s natural energy, brighten, and defend for more radiant, healthy-looking bare skin over time, and I love that the weightless, hydrating formula blends effortlessly and melts into skin for the smoothest of applications.
The vitamins in the mix include Vitamin E to help provide antioxidant defence for the lipid barrier, and no less than five forms of vitamin C. These provide multi-action benefits - two forms helping visibly brighten skin and three forms to help with antioxidant defence, with different rates of penetration to the skin’s surface. So clever, so unabashedly Clinique.
The SPF built into the foundation is a combination of physical sunscreens that reflect UV away from skin and chemical sunscreens that capture UV rays, but I always recommend that you double up by applying SPF also as the last step in your skincare routine for added protection.

The takeaway
If you’ve ever tried the brand’s Even Better Clinical Serum, you know that its brightening benefits are next-level, and this formula is like that serum mixed with a killer skin tint. It feels like skincare, but adds a sheer, buildable amount of coverage that never looks like makeup — just naturally radiant, healthy skin.
I don’t necessarily need my makeup to do my skincare’s job, but when it comes with an ingredient deck as solid as this one it gets a major thumbs up from me. Plus, it’s waterproof, sweat- and humidity-resistant, oil-free, and non-comedogenic, so won’t cause breakouts if that’s your concern.
I find two pumps max of product will cover my entire face, and I’ve applied with a brush and my fingers and loved the end result. I dust a little powder across my T-zone on hotter days just as an added measure, in all honesty drier, more mature skin types like mine really don’t need it.
I love this foundation for off duty days and even tested its wear on some long days out in Sydney over the past week, and it withstood the pace of my shopping and sightseeing with great aplomb!
This baby is highly recommended and available now x
