Australian Fashion Week hair how to: Carla Zampatti x Shark Beauty
Sydney's week of high style kicked off Monday night with the Carla Zampatti opening runway show at the Museum of Contemporary Art forecourt by the harbour. The new collection marks 60 years since the label was founded in 1965, the icon of the Australian fashion scene passing away in 2021 but her family and design team determined to continue with her eponymous label. The 2025 outing was most definitely a triumph, with one Australian stylist remarking that you could “feel her spirit” backstage and the Carla Zampatti woman more than confident as she strides into the new season and beyond.
With a focus on separates and fresh blazer silhouettes alongside evening wear, it was imperative that the beauty vibe was strong but also unabashedly feminine, and hair director Madison Voloshin for Shark Beauty created the perfect done-undone look that worked with the models’ own texture and style.
“The inspiration behind the look came from Carla Zampatti herself,” said Madison, “she had beautiful hair with a lot of strength - I once did her hair which was an amazing experience. I tried to pull through the brand DNA by giving the hair a strong yet feminine look using a side part and soft wave but still giving structure to the hair. “ Elevated simplicity with bold, architectural structure was the inspiration, and team Shark Beauty definitely delivered.
Read on for how to get the look at home…
1. Ensure the hair is properly primed with mousse for volume and texture so the hair floats as you walk, but with enough structure that when they’re walking outside it holds its integrity.
2. Using the Shark Beauty FlexStyle with the auto wrap curler attachment, set the hair in a brick pattern method ensuring the roots are completely dry and elevating your section so the hair is polished
3. Pin each section with a clip to set the hair until you have a full blow dry set, release clips and brush the hair with a dressing brush.
4. With hair that has more texture and needs a bit more work, use the Shark Beauty SpeedStyle with a round brush to add smoothness to the root area. Use a very classic rolling technique and elevate the hair with the brushes for volume.
5. Use the cool shot setting on the SpeedStyle to set each section.
