Beauty review: L’Oréal Paris Paradise Le Shadow Sticks
I’m a firm believer that eye shadow looks don’t have to be complicated, because duh, just getting through the day can be hard enough at the best of times! One key makeup MVP that can help with exactly that is a good eye shadow stick (or two, three, four…), and I’ve recently fallen hard for a new formula from L’Oréal Paris that more than holds its own alongside some of the industry’s spendiest luxury brands.
Why eye shadow sticks deserve a place in every kit
These versatile sticks are an effortless medium for beginners to master their eye makeup routine with ease, and a life saver for the time-poor whether they're being used as foolproof eyeliner or for a smudged-out, sexy finish. Creamy formulas also slide and glide without pesky powder fallout, meaning you get a punch of eye shadow pigment without risking your foundation base, and best of all? You don't need a brush to apply or blend these. Your fingers are your artistic tools.
Say hello to the new L’Oréal Paris Paradise Le Shadow Sticks
In a nutshell, the new Le Shadow Stick from L’Oréal Paris is a creamy, super soft but durable eyeshadow pencil/crayon that has been designed to be super easy to use as well as gloriously long lasting.
Transfer and smudge-resistant and available in both matte and shimmer shades, the rich, creamy formula glides on effortlessly and evenly and easily builds and blends, making for a smoother application whether you’re a newbie or a pro.
My first impressions
After twisting the lid on several of the shades, I quickly fell hard for Le Shadow Stick - I'm wearing a no-fuss slick of the shade Brown Abyss as a soft liner in the main photo above and it has become my new BFF! I love that each and every shade comes with a lovely creamy texture so the colour glides onto the skin effortlessly, and as they are so pigment-rich, a little swipe goes a long way. You also get a bit of play time to move and blend out the product before it sets down, although the sooner you blend, the easier it is to do so. After that, they stay beautifully in place, the colour true and very minimal movement or creasing even after a full day of wear.
When it comes to the packaging of these beauties, it is minimal and super practical for throwing in your handbag for touch ups or transformations on the go, and a twist-up mechanism means no need to keep a sharpener on hand.
Lastly, the Le Shadow sticks use a water-based gel formula so feel lovely and cooling as you apply them, which I really like. They also keep the area very lightly hydrated, which is a bonus for dry or mature skin types like me.
How do I use them?
Basically, any way your please! Apply the shadow sticks directly onto your lid, then blend into the shape you require using the tip of your finger. Some professionals advise using your ring finger to apply along your lid, then blending with your middle finger to keep things in place.

For a more concentrated finish, dab extra colour onto the area of your lid where you want to increase opacity, then alternate blending with both fingers until you create your desired finish.
