Beauty news: Emma Lewisham wins big at the Marie Claire UK Skin Awards

If you are as much of the Emma Lewisham brand as I am, it will come as no surprise AT all that it has won a major gong for its exceptional efforts when it comes to inextricably linking beauty and sustainable practices - the 'Best Progress Towards Circularity' at the UK Marie Claire Skin Awards just two days ago.
The highly-coveted Marie Claire Skin Awards is a notable pillar in the global beauty awards calendar. The Awards champion premium brands that are leading the way in product innovation and sustainable beauty. All of the major global skincare brands have these awards on their agenda. This year, the awards were voted for by an all-star line-up including names such as award-winning aesthetician Abigail James, celebrity MUA Adeola Gboyega, Marie Claire Head of Sustainability Ally Head, Marie Claire Editor-in-Chief Andrea Thompson and wellbeing Expert & Author Jasmine Hemsley.

Founder of the Emma Lewisham brand, Emma (above) says, “We are thrilled to win the coveted Best Progress Towards Circularity at last night’s Marie Claire Awards. To be recognised amongst the other globally renowned nominees is astounding and a true testament to the industry-leading work we’re doing at Emma Lewisham. Since our inception, I have been determined to set a new benchmark in scientifically proven natural skincare and sustainable skincare. I see business as a tool to tackle problems, find solutions and leave behind something better. To me, this means using business as a force for good. Profits should never come at an expense to people or the planet, and I’m proud to be building a business that proves that sustainability and success can go hand-in-hand.”
The Best Progress Towards Circularity accolade is awarded to a company that has achieved significant success in operating in a circular business model instead of the linear, conventional take-make-waste model of doing business.
As of September 2021, Emma Lewisham was the world’s first verified carbon positive beauty brand under Toitū Envirocare’s Climate Positive Product Certification. All of Emma Lewisham’s products are circular-designed and refillable through the Emma Lewisham Beauty Circle. - a global take-back programme for refilling and recycling to keep their packaging in circularity and reduce carbon emissions. They offer refills for all products, and when you purchase a refill pod or pouch instead of a brand-new product, you reduce your carbon emissions by up to 74 percent. For any refill pod or pouch that they cannot sterilise and reuse, the brand ensures it’s recycled through TerraCycle.
Earlier this year Emma Lewisham publicly released its sustainable IP for its circular designed product packaging and climate positive business model, enabling small and large competitors alike to capitalise on the B Corp certified brand’s considerable investment and start making widespread change within the beauty industry.
If that isn’t enough of a reason for you to also become a fan of this incredible brand, give their considerable product line-up a whirl. Highly efficacious and planet conscious? You’ll be hooked.
