It’s always a challenge tucking into traditional Christmas
fare Down Under when the temperature is soaring, but we do - and we do it well.
A rich red to wash it all down is taking things a little too far however, and I
think that is exactly the spot that this chardonnay would occupy perfectly.
Grant Edmonds, Sileni Estate Chief Winemaker calls it “the perfectly-mannered
wine to respect and not overwhelm the richest Christmas dinner”, and it is most
definitely an elegant and well-formed drop. Bright, light and straw yellow with
some “lemoniness” in the colour, The Lodge is hand picked, barrel-fermented and
aged in oak for 9-10 months, and it shows.
Definitely a drop to try whether your Christmas fare
involves pork, turkey or something vegetarian, it is definitely not an
over-achiever in the best possible way - this is one guest that will complement
the table perfectly and will remain a firm favourite for a long time to come!
