All about: Kiehl’s Magic Elixir Hair Restructuring Concentrate

Last week I popped into the Kiehl’s counter at Auckland Smith & Caughey’s department store to hear all about the brand’s upcoming releases, of which there are quite a few. There are new goodies for the skin and the hair, one of which is the charmingly named Magic Elixir Hair Restructuring Concentrate.
Formulated with Rosemary Leaf, Avocado Oil, Safflower Seed Oil, and Aloe, it’s a lightweight elixir that rebalances the scalp’s protective barrier to maintain a healthy equilibrium of moisture, nutrients and micro flora. The end result? Reportedly a balanced, cleaner, well-conditioned, nourished scalp for more manageable, healthy looking hair. Like the sound of that!
The now-legendary Kiehl’s approach to skincare begins with a healthy skin barrier, and when it comes to hair they take a similar approach - healthy scalp, a critical segment of the skin barrier. The company's decades of work in the area of skin barrier function led to the development of this unique oil, which helps to break down and lift away dirt and excess oils while still invigorating and moisturising the scalp.
Similar to traditional oil treatments (of which our market is currently flooded!), Kiehl’s Magic Elixir delivers a high concentration of naturally derived oil to nourish and replenish moisture loss at the scalp. Rather than just a single oil however, it is a heady mix of three oils plus Aloe, which is known to deeply moisturise the scalp and hair fibres. The first is Rosemary Leaf Oil – an excellent source of Vitamin A known to create a fertile environment for healthy hair growth – followed by Avocado Oil, which utilises high amounts of Vitamins A, D & E to nourish the scalp and help reduce dryness. Last up there is Safflower Oil in the powerful formula, containing Vitamin E and Omega-6 fatty acids to restore moisture to the scalp and hair and restructure the hair fibre.
Its application is a little different to most hair oils, but I’ve tried it and can honestly say that I love it. Before shampooing, apply a small amount to your fingertips or directly onto a dry scalp and hair. Massage it all over your scalp in a circular motion, then wait 5-10 minutes so it can do its thing for maximum benefits. Rinse thoroughly with shampoo and condition as usual. Too easy! Your hair will feel amazing, and in the long term your scalp and hair will be getting enough TLC to keep it healthy and hair super shiny.
On counter on July 23rd, I highly recommend that you add this baby to your winter beauty routine now.
