Beauty review: goop Beauty GOOPGENES All in One Face Oil

In 2008, Gwyneth Paltrow launched the goop brand from her kitchen as a homespun weekly newsletter. It’s grown a lot since then, welcoming critics and naysayers, one jade egg at a time. There’s no denying the brand’s power however, and their willingness to do a deep dive on the craziest of subjects is definitely to be admired. “We operate from a place of curiosity and non judgment, and we start hard conversations, crack open taboos, and look for connection and resonance everywhere we can find it,” they say, and that includes the area of clean beauty. Gwyneth, Jean and the crew have pretty much opened the door for clean beauty solutions to flood the mainstream, demystifying ingredients and putting up solid arguments for seeking out beauty solutions blissfully free of nasties.
With all that in mind, it was no surprise when goop Beauty launched, their own line of efficacious solutions. And it’s finally reached New Zealand shores, thanks to Jo Horgan and her wonderful team at MECCA. When I was given the chance to play with goop Beauty GOOPGENES All in One Face Oil I jumped at it – and now I’m an unabashed fan.

It’s no secret that I am a huge fans of oils - body and facials oils - and love the fact that nine times out of ten, they are brilliant multitaskers and great travel companions too. As well as to soothe and support, we use them to cleanse, and there are more and more great formulas arriving on our desks that are making their way into bathroom cabinets across the globe.
Autumn is the perfect time to add an oil to your arsenal, given that the cooler mornings and nights can cause summer skin to move to the dry side. Which brings me to the wondrous goop Beauty GOOPGENES All in One Face Oil, which is a luxurious active botanical face oil that has been known to deliver results that will blow you away. It’s clinically proven to help diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles, improve skin firmness, smooth skin texture, and increase glow, as well as soften, nourish, and moisturise.
Made with nine powerful nutrient-dense oils (including the retinol alternative bakuchiol, vitamin-A-rich cacay, and organic amla, a vitamin C superfood), it’s a restorative daily treatment that feels gorgeous and comes with proven results. After four weeks of use, 100 per cent of participants in a recent study showed significant improvement in skin texture, and 97 per cent showed significant improvement in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.
Like many facial oils, it’s also incredibly low maintenance for the user: smooth just two to four drops evenly over your face morning and night and reap the benefits. You can also use it on your neck and décolletage, and I also love a little on the backs of my hands.
And like many clean beauty solutions it comes with an earthy smell, which I am totally fine with as it says ‘I’m pure and no nonsense, and here to put in the work’. I have loved trialling it for the past few weeks, especially the pillow, nourished feel of my skin. I haven’t been using it long enough to notice any difference when it comes to fine lines etc, but will keep at it and report back on if those serious impressive results are true for me too.
Not matter what your opinion of Gwyneth Paltrow and the goop philosophy, this marvel is an absolute winner. Its recent arrival in New Zealand makes it perfect for trans seasonal skin, so grab a bottle now.
