Beauty news: Kérastase New Zealand partners with RainbowYOUTH

The truly iconic, unabashedly luxe Kérastase brand has had a longstanding care-first philosophy toward the LGBTQIA+ community, not only with celebration and awareness, but with resources and action. Now they have cemented that commitment even further in New Zealand by forging a partnership with RainbowYOUTH.
RainbowYOUTH is an incredibly hardworking, national charity established in 1989 that provides support, information, resources and advocacy for Aotearoa’s queer, gender diverse, takatāpui and intersex youth. They work with young people aged 13-27, their friends, whānau and wider communities in order to make sure that Aotearoa is a place where all young people can thrive. They provide strengths-based peer support that considers hauora, resilience, cultural identities, and individual journeys, and their support workers provide face to face support in Auckland, Bay of Plenty, Wellington, Northland, Taranaki and Dunedin, and online everywhere else in Aotearoa. In a nutshell, vital work being done at a time when the LGBTQIA+ community feels increasingly threatened.
To kick off the partnership, Kérastase New Zealand will donate 100 percent of the profits from sales of the Pride Limited Edition Elixir Ultime L’Huile Originale Hair Oil directly to RainbowYOUTH. Yep, you read that right – not a token $5, not 10 percent but a whopping 100 percent, which is huge IMHO.
As well as donating to RainbowYOUTH, the brand will be running LGBTQIA+ Inclusion Workshops across their salons, field team and internally. The donation will go directly to RainbowYOUTH to subsidise Gender Affirming Garments as part of their GAPF initiative.
Globally, each participating country where the Kérastase brand is available has partnered with a different local organisation associating to the LGBTQIA+ community to donate and support projects related to housing, mental health, education, and other services. With more than 15 countries participating, the estimated impact will be over €200,000 globally.
Last but by no means least: how cute does the bottle look all dressed up for Pride? The iconic glass vessel features a special version of the “K” logo surrounded by “echo” outlines to represent the reverberating impact we can all have on the Pride cause. The design is set on a rainbow background inspired by the Pride flag, while the outer box features the six Pride rainbow colours in a luminous holographic effect, to show that we all deserve to shine. Created by artist Gilbert Baker at the urging of Harvey Milk in 1978 for the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade, the rainbow flag represents the immense diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community.
The Elixir Ultime L’Huile Originale Pride Limited Edition, RRP $66.00, will be available for a limited time only through all participating salons and e-retailers from August. Put that date in your diary now, and for more information about RainbowYOUTH, head here.
