Beauty news: MECCA announces plans for its biggest beauty wonderland yet

In further huge news for the seemingly unstoppable brand, MECCA has announced the 2023 opening of its biggest flagship store yet.
Taking over an iconic Bourke Street Mall site in Melbourne (the brand’s original home), the new store will surpass its Sydney flagship as the biggest dedicated beauty retail destination in the Southern Hemisphere. Occupying 3000 square metres across two glamour-packed levels, the new store will be over 1000 square metres bigger than the already-huge Sydney location, and a crazy 35 TIMES the size of its very first store on Melbourne’s Toorak Road!
The pandemic has meant that I haven’t actually seen the Sydney store “in person”, but the virtual tour I saw of it points to seriously fabulous things. All fingers are crossed for a visit very soon, and counting down to Melbourne in 2023!
“After 24 years of opening stores across Australia and New Zealand, our flagships are the culmination of the past, present and future of MECC as a business,” says MECCA founder and co-CEO, Jo Horgan of the announcement. “We have a vision to create the world’s most extraordinary, innovative and loved experiential retail destination, where people can immerse themselves in the absolute best of global beauty.”
“We wanted to put the joy back into shopping,” she adds, “and we see our Melbourne flagship as an opportunity to continue to innovate, try new things and really raise the bar, again and again! Since launching our first flagship store in Sydney in November 2020, we have been listening to our customers and researching what they want from our next flagship. So we are dreaming big, and concepting a truly customer-centric and all-encompassing store.”

The retail store experience remains at the heart of MECCA’s business and there is an ambitious pipeline for more new stores over the coming years. The legendary brand now has a store in every single state and territory in Australia, taking the business to 107 stores across Aussie and New Zealand.
