Beauty news and review: Emma Lewisham invites you to Reveal Your Glow

Founded by Auckland woman Emma Lewisham, the Emma Lewisham brand has just released two beautiful new offerings to add to their considerable line up of 100 per cent natural, high performance skincare. Called the Illuminating range, it is made up of the Illuminating Oil Cleanser and Illuminating Exfoliant.
The preternaturally stylish and very clever founder says: “I’ve wanted to release a truly efficacious, but 100 per cent natural, cleansing range that was true to our brand’s core for many years. I believe cleansing is often a second thought; people don’t place enough importance around properly cleansing and exfoliating. It’s the underdog of the skincare industry, and I’ve set out to change this.”
Emma goes on to say, “proper cleansing and exfoliation slows down ageing, enables the following skincare products to penetrate the epidermis effectively, and it lays the building blocks for strong overall skin health.”
Anyone that checks in here regularly will know that I’m a huge fan of oils - body oils, hair oils and facials oils - and love the fact that nine times out of ten, they are brilliant multitaskers and are great travel companions too. Cleansing your face with one is a given with me, but for many oil may seem counterintuitive, especially for those who associate it with breakouts and the like. Well it just ain’t true, and there are more and more great oil-based cleansers arriving on the market all the time that are making their way into bathroom cabinets across the globe.

I feel in love with Emma’s Illuminating Oil Cleanser from the get-go – the experience of using it is super luxe, and the results clear from the first time you hit the pump and start massaging it in. Containing 23 high-performing actives and full-spectrum, skin- beautifying antioxidants, nutrients, and vitamins, it’s definitely a cleanser that delivers on all fronts.
The formula harnesses the considerable powers of a signature blend of four flower enzymes: Neroli Absolute, Rose Absolute, Jasmine Absolute, and Bulgarian Lavender. The flowers gently exfoliate away dead skin cells for deliciously illuminated-looking skin. Neroli is an advanced natural enzyme that has unparalleled benefits in detoxifying the skin and drawing out impurities and environmental pollutants from deep in the skin. Bulgarian Lavender oil is the world’s finest lavender extract and promotes the release of Beta- endorphin, a neuropeptide which can aid in muscle relaxation and soften fine lines and wrinkles. Upon contact with water, the oil transforms into a milky emulsion to ensure a residue-free finish and yes – it smells absolutely heavenly.
Next up the Illuminating Exfoliant, which I was initially hesitant about giving a go as so many physical exfoliants shake up my rosacea in a BIG way. Not so with this formula, which I’m now using twice a week with zero redness or sensitisation – definitely a first. A 100 per cent natural, exfoliating hybrid created with 21 high-performing natural ingredients that detoxify and hydrate, it’s a dual action formula which is why I think it’s so user friendly. It contains natural lactic acid (AHA) along with Willow bark (BHA), while jojoba beads physically exfoliate the skin upon application and are washed off after exfoliation. Jojoba beads are gentle by nature, naturally-occurring, micro-tear proof and environmentally friendly.
The new Illuminating range is also refillable and recyclable through the Emma Lewisham Beauty Circle, so you’re getting sustainability and a truly ethical approach along with some very beautiful products.
Both come highly recommended, and are available now.
