MEET GHD’s NEW ULTRA-FAST HAIR DRYER, APTLY TITLED SPEED

If you know me well, you’ll know how much I hate drying my hair. The washing part is fine when I’m not pressed for time, but drying? I literally dread it – hence the amount of time and money I’ve spent leaving it all to the professionals!
It also means that I’m a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to hair tools that can make the whole experience a little less torturous, with a premium hair dryer always top of the list. I have a few great ones in my arsenal, but when it comes to the newest release from ghd? I was (quite literally) blown away.

Meet the ghd speed

How? Featuring new ghd halo™ dual-airflow technology, it uses hot and cool dual airflow that delivers a cool-scalp feel and cool-touch exterior even during extended use. Say goodbye to heat damage and hello smooth blow dries that last all day.

Why I Love It
As aforementioned, this truly is one of the fastest and easiest hairdryers I have ever used. I have fine hair but a lot of it, and it loves to hold onto water like its life depends on it. It normally takes me about 20 minutes (or more) to dry my hair properly, which results in a sore arm, red face and generally flustered demeanour. When first using the speed, I used the hottest heat and fastest fan settings, dropping them down a notch when I got to my more delicate front section. Within ten minutes my hair was completely dry from root to tip without feeling fried, which is no mean feat.
I love that the four heat settings and four speed settings are really easy to change, and that the ghd speed remembers the last setting you used, delivering a personalised drying experience every time. The ergonomic shape and cool casing also means that you can hold the body of the dryer if it's more comfortable to use that way, which is especially good when you’re also working with a round brush or similar.
The brand has created five magnetic and cool-touch styling attachments for every look, but unfortunately only the halo styling concentrator nozzle comes included – my only gripe.

The Takeaway
As I said in my intro, I am blown away (pun intended) by this hairdryer. The way it smooths as it dries so swiftly is super impressive, and although the price is definitely on the higher side (and a step up from their existing offering, the helios), if your budget allows $645 for a new hairdryer then this comes highly recommended. It’s also ghd, so chances are you’ll be calling on its considerable powers for a very long time!
