Beauty review: the new MULTIPLAYER MODE SHAPING STICKS from MECCA MAX

As a beauty editor, I’m always saying to people that in my humble opinion, makeup has no limits, and definitely no rules. Like clothing, it’s an invitation to play and discover what you love wearing, as opposed to what brands - or even society – tell you that you should be doing. This is the reason why I love following the work of industry disruptors like Violette Serrat and Isamaya Ffrench, who encourage the spirit of play at every touch point.
All of which brings me to the latest release from Australian colour beauty brand MECCA MAX, which aims to bring playfulness back to beauty with the launch of the Multiplayer Mode Shaping Sticks, a new generation of effortless, impossible-to-mess-up multipurpose cream sticks for eyes, lips, contour and cheeks, with an easy-to-blend blurred matte finish.
As someone that actively embraces a little creativity in all areas of life, I love that these newbies blur the line between precision and creativity, or as the brand says: they “deliver precision without the pressure”.

The Tea
Available in eight versatile shades, spanning warm, cool and neutral hues alongside pigment-packed pops, they were designed to be used draw, define, shade, shape, and most importantly, play. Application can be as subtle or bold as you like, built up or blended out, worn solo or layered into your routine, and I’ve paired several shades above to bring my daytime look together. MECCA MAX recommends that you pair them with the brand’s Detailed Buffing Brush or Flush Angled Blush Brush to blend and diffuse seamlessly, sculpt with precision, or build colour exactly where you want it, and I used fingers as well, because why not?
What struck me immediately upon popping the cap on several shades was their beautifully creamy texture, which makes them super easy to use and also really forgiving on mature skin like mine. They are incredibly blendable, and the long-wearing, sheer matte finish makes them really wearable by day and night. The blur is also super on trend right now, meaning that these babies will absolutely fly out the door.

The Takeaway
Marvellous multitaskers (you know I love those!), I am all for products that can be used on cheeks, eyes or lips, and these definitely fit that bill. I used them across three areas of my face and loved the end result, which lasted through two beauty events and hours of sipping and yapping.
The compact nature and multiuse capabilities of the Multiplayer Mode Shaping Sticks also make them perfect for travel and on the go, with several spending the day in my bag yesterday for touch ups and when I wanted to amplify my eye look as the day rolled on.
