Beauty review: the new Revitalash Length Define Tubing Mascara

I’ve often said that whether your lashes are short or long, sparse or full, pale or heavily pigmented, there will definitely be a mascara out there to meet your needs. But while there may be plentiful offerings, their formulas are largely composed of the same waxes. Tubing mascaras, however, are very different—true iconoclasts in the space, shunning age-old formulations that merely coat the lashes with high-tech polymers that sheathe each lash individually.
Sounds science-y! What does this mean for the end user? First off the bat: less flaking and smudging. This is especially advantageous if you’re a contact lens wearer or have super sensitive eyes. They are also a lot easier to remove with a little warm water, and help prevent tugging at your natural lashes or extensions.
I first tried tubing formulas (along with a multitude of other seemingly-wild-at-the-time innovations) in the 90s, most likely the one that was invented by Blinc Cosmetics. The late Kevyn Aucoin was another early tubing formula creator, and his formulas are still top sellers today.
Key to the innovative oil-free tubing formulation is that forms tiny "tubes" around each lash, rather than painting them like traditional mascaras do. The majority contain polymers that wrap around the individual lash like a tube, enveloping the lashes entirely, unlike traditional mascara formulas that coat each eyelash with a composition that's mostly made of waxes. A great tubing formula will wrap around each lash like your favourite cashmere shawl, creating an enhanced lengthening effect and staying in place all day.

All of which brings me to the new Revitalash Length Define Tubing Mascara, which I fell for hard AND fast. Promising up to 300 percent (!!!) longer lashes, the ophthalmologist- and dermatologist-reviewed beauty takes the many wonders of a tubing formula and ups the game, all thanks to a unique brush (and some added ingredients I’ll get to soon). This clever brush ensures even application of its smooth, non-flaking formula to create a lengthened, glossy, fanned out look that I love, and the effect really does last all day long.
But that’s not all! The cruelty-free, long-lasting and smudge-proof formula not only provides incredible length, but also enhances lash health with every use. Revitalash has long been in the business of creating better lashes from the ground up, and this new innovation is no different. Infused with biotin and vitamin E to protect against breakage, along with Myristoyl Pentapeptide-17 and panthenol for hydration and shine, this mascara is more than just makeup, it’s what team Revitalash like to call “lash care in a tube”.

“As more New Zealanders embrace a natural, less-is-more makeup look, Length Define Tubing Mascara is the perfect addition to their routine.” says the absolutely gorgeous Annemarie Mason, Director of Kiara Cosmetics - Aotearoa’s long time Revitalash distributor. And I couldn’t agree more - from very first application I fell in love with this effortlessly elevated formula, and love the length it delivers as well as the good stuff it’s kindly doing every time I sweep it on.

Revitalash Length Define Tubing Mascara, RRP $69.90 is available right now at select beauty salons, spas, and specialty retailers and online at revitalash.co.nz, and comes highly recommended.
