Beauty review: MECCA MAX POUT PAINT MATTE LIQUID LIPSTICK

If you stop by here regularly you’ll know I often sing the praises of a matte lip, and my go-to-daily kit is packed with velvet-y matte formulas from faves like NARS, Violette and MAC. A great liquid matte formula always fits the brief when I have an early morning meeting or launch event, and will stay in place AND stay comfortable to wear all day long.
Which brings me to the latest liquid mattes that have come across my desk: the new MECCA MAX Pout Paint Matte Liquid Lipstick collection, which the iconic Australian brand says is “for a pout that feels as good as it looks”. Bold claim! But does it deliver? (spoiler alert: yes, with much aplomb).

The super affordable, new matte liquid lipstick formula comes in eight opaque shades, and after the whole collection arrived on my doorstep (lucky me!) I grabbed immediately for a warm nude – Fancy, a bold red – Left on Red, and a very winter-worthy, neutral brown – Cocoa to Go. Trialling all three in one go proved to be difficult as these puppies glide on like a dream, set in seconds and quite literally, don’t want to be removed. The staying power is next level, which if you’re wearing them all day or night, is the dream! They are also really lightweight and feel like nothing on the lips, with serious pigment payoff that means a single swipe will pretty much have your sorted.

If you love a defined and precise lip line, pair your choice of Pout Paint Matte Liquid Lipstick with a MECCA MAX Pout Pencil, or for a feather soft application and perfect blurred lip effect, pat the formula on with fingers or a fluffy brush such as the MECCA MAX Flat Eyeshadow Brush. Either way, the finish is flawless, and I love that cracking and feathering just doesn’t enter the chat.

At just $28 NZD these offer incredible value, and IMHO several shades are more than worth the investment for a lipstick wardrobe that will take you right through winter and well into the warmer months. I LOVE!
