MAC wants you to go nude this Valentine’s Day

When I first met MAC’s OG nude lip shades, it changed my go-to makeup look forever. After years of wearing blue and brick reds (usually also MAC) it emboldened me to branch out with the arrival of Spice lipliner, which at first I wore with a slick of lip balm before experimenting with some equally now-iconic hues.
Spice had almost every ’90s girl obsessed—from supermodel Linda Evangelista, who caused it to sell out after naming it as her must-have beauty item, to Drew Barrymore, who once told US Weekly that in the ’90s she "wore MAC Spice lip liner for five years.” The makeup team also used the liner on Jennifer Aniston in Friends, making it a certified cultural icon of the liner variety.

Come 2004 I was wearing it in a combo with the gloriously matte-but-still-flattering Velvet Teddy, a universally gorgeous beige lipstick that even in 2020 was said to still be the best selling makeup product across the globe. When Velvet Teddy was revealed as one of Kylie Jenner’s go-to nudes, before she launched Kylie Cosmetics, it became the favourite of a whole new generation and still reigns supreme today.
With all this in mind and just in time for Valentine’s Day, MAC clearly listened to the call of beauty enthusiasts everywhere and answered with a highly anticipated return, the “Nudes” Collection. Alongside the launch, the brand dropped a seductive new campaign, “I Only Wear MAC,” starring Odell Beckham Jr. (above top, you're welcome), Maura Higgins, Martha Stewart, Julia Fox, beabadoobee and Tiffany “New York” Pollard. In the imagery, each celebrity is rocking a single accessory — MAC makeup. Known for their unapologetic confidence, each celebrity perfectly mirror the brand’s commitment to empowering individuals to embrace their uniqueness. The campaign aims to “prove that nude is anything but neutral”, which I absolutely love.

“With ‘I Only Wear M·A·C,’ we wanted to ignite a conversation that extends far beyond beauty,” said MAC Cosmetics Global Creative Director Drew Elliott. “By bringing together a bold line-up of cultural icons who are unafraid to speak their truth, we are proving that MAC Nudes are not just about blending in – they are about standing out and sparking pop-cultural chaos.”
Each image highlights the “diversity and freedom of expression that defines MAC”, and I am beyond excited to hopefully get my hands on the new Nudes Collection, which is a curated line-up of shades for lips and eyes that are designed to complement every skin tone.

Among the range is Lip Pencil in OG Spice, Powder Kiss Liquid Lip in six new shades and Lustreglass Lipstick in three new shades. Plus, Macximal Matte lipstick in six new shades and Macximal Satin lipstick in four new hues.

So, will you go nude this Valentine’s Day?
