Australian Fashion Week makeup how to: IKUNTJI ARTISTS X MECCA

Yesterday, Ikuntji Artists, a prominent Aboriginal art centre located in the remote community of Ikuntji (Haasts Bluff) in Central Australia, debuted their solo show at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week (AAFW) with an absolutely glorious beauty moment curated by MECCA that further elevated the incredible talent on display. The show marked a historic moment for the art world in Australia and globally, as trailblazing Ikuntji Artists become the first art centre to present a solo showcase at AAFW.
The Ikuntji Artists AAFW runway show was an unforgettable experience that brought the beauty and culture of the Western Desert to the forefront of the fashion world. As guests walked into the venue, they were immediately transported to the heart of the desert, with the sounds of the bush ringing in their ears. It was a powerful reminder of the deep connection between the people and their connection to Country and culture.

The Ikuntji Artists AAFW show is a community-led initiative showcasing the incredible talents and cultural heritage of the artists of the Western Desert. From the designs to the production, this show has been a collaborative effort between the artists of Ikuntji and newly appointed Creative Director Ana Keshan, a proud Yorta Yorta, Gomeroi and Wiradjuri woman

MECCA’s Head of Artistry and the show’s makeup director Jennifer Horsley explains the beauty looks as “customised to the vibrant colours, textures and patterns of each fabric, whilst complimenting each individual model’s features. We had a lot of fun with colour for this show!”
This was achieved through a bold winged liner in a variety of colours and a glowing complexion. You can get the look using the products below:
