Facial Friday: I try Dermalogica PRO’s brand new LuminFusion treatment

Looking to achieve that seemingly elusive ‘glass skin’ look seen all over TikTok, but without the ten-step skincare routine and well, clear-skinned 18-year-old genes? Look no further than Dermalogica PRO’s new LuminFusion treatment, which I recently experienced at Skintopia Herne Bay and fell hard for.
Clocking in at around 45 minutes, LuminFusion ($220) supercharges skin smoothness and luminosity with – honestly - no downtime. Leaning heavily into high-tech modalities like NanoInfusion and combined with a targeted Retinol Peel, it aims to restore vibrancy and even out tone with active ingredients that go deep to bring your skin’s best self to the surface.

The process
The ideal treatment to have pre-event (so perfect for the silly season), my skin therapist Fulvia started the LuminFusion process with a double cleanse to remove makeup and surface oils, then applied a peel packed with retinol, salicylic and lactic acids for a carefully controlled, professional level of exfoliation.
Next up was the NanoInfusion element, using Dermalogica’s new Pro Pen, a professional-only Microneedling and NanoInfusion device in one. I think it may be Dermalogica’s first foray into this kind of tech, and naturally it has been perfected to the nth degree. Performed over the top of the peel, NanoInfusion ensures deeper infusion of the ingredient-rich products without the use of needles, offering similar vibrations as needling to spread cells out and create gaps for the formula to reach deeper and absorb better. This makes it the dream for those who aren’t fans of microneedling, or newbies who may be concerned with the downtime that a decent microneedling session often comes hand in hand with.
As a final level of exfoliation, the peel is removed with a frothy application of Dermalogica’s truly iconic Daily Microfoliant, revealing visibly brighter skin only halfway through the treatment.
This prepped me for red light therapy (LED) to support the skin’s repair process, helping to smooth skin texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines. To really level up the results, Dermalogica’s professional-only Light Energy Masque is applied to work synergistically with the LED and amplify treatment results, which got the LED fan in me really damn excited. I’m a huge proponent of LED for almost every skin age and stage, and this combo treatment really works hard to increase circulation, boost collagen, provide an extra boost of hydration and reduce the appearance of pores.
Before I knew it Fulvia was sliding away the LED machine and removing the accompanying masque, before applying sunblock and sending me on my way with healthier, stronger and generally glow-ier skin that continued for almost a week later. The only aftercare was diligent sunscreen use (a given), and avoiding any actives for 3-5 days - too easy.

The takeaway
I personally love that while most definitely delivering much more than the average facial, LuminFusion really did come with pretty much zero downtime and elicited some great results. As per the name, the luminosity was real - and I was there for it!
I highly recommend this treatment pre-party, pre-wedding, or just when you’re looking for a little pick me up on the glow front. I’m a huge Skintopia fan so loved my visit to see Fulvia there, but Dermalogica PRO’s LuminFusion treatment is also available from Dermalogica salons and centres nationwide.
