All about: MECCA’s newest arrival, honey-centric haircare brand, Gisou

Gisou, the honey-infused haircare brand championing sustainable bee-sourced ingredients, has expanded its very glamorous global footprint by joining the line-up at MECCA.
The brand was founded in 2015 by Dutch-Persian influencer, Negin Mirsalehi, whose lush locks speak for themselves! After receiving thousands of inquiries about her shiny, voluminous curls via her online platforms (6M+ followers to date), Negin decided to share her homemade haircare secret with the world, now famously known as Gisou’s iconic hero product: The Honey Infused Hair Oil.
From growing up in her family’s Mirsalehi Bee Garden to working with ingredients from her father’s hives, Negin Mirsalehi’s knowledge of beekeeping and honey-based haircare stems from a passion deeply rooted in her Middle Eastern heritage. Inspired by Persian self-care practices, it was Negin's mother, a hairdresser by trade, who introduced her daughter to the honey-infused formulas she still loves and uses today. Her mother's kitchen was the birthplace of the highly sought-after haircare secret that sparked Negin's journey from global influencer to beauty industry entrepreneur, and Gisou – which literally means “honey hair lock” in Persian - is the end result.

Negin is still an active beekeeper as well as the founder of Gisou, and says of the brand’s latest move: “Launching Gisou exclusively with MECCA in Australia and New Zealand, is so exciting! For years I’ve witnessed the love and support from the Gisou community grow as well as the high demand for our products. I’m so happy to finally share Gisou and our honey-infused haircare with our community members"

The full Gisou range is available online and in-store, including cult best-sellers The Honey Infused Hair Oil, Hair Mask and Hair Perfume. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to play with The Honey Infused Hair Oil and Honey Infused Hair Mask, and have fallen hard. I have long followed the chic, Insta-famous brand—not to mention, its founder’s tousled tresses, which act as the ultimate advertisement—I couldn’t wait to try Gisou. And thankfully, it did not disappoint.

The Honey Infused Hair Oil is an absolute joy on so many levels, and as an avid fan of hair oils, I’m so excited to add another killer formula to my collection. The square glass bottle is the perfect vessel for the pale, amber oil, which is almost weightless yet delivers serious results. I’ve added it to the thick and creamy Gisou hair mask for a once a week lockdown treat, and I’ve used it as a finishing product after hot tools. Each time, I’m left with soft and shiny hair, and I swear it’s even helped with the increasing brassiness affecting my ends after almost four months without a professional colour treatment.
Next on my list to try is the shampoo and conditioner, along with the Hair Perfume I’ve heard so much about! I’m all about treating myself during these tumultuous times, and it sounds like just the ticket.

Gisou is available at MECCA now.
