Beauty news: Christy Turlington Burns is Lancôme’s newest ambassador
In huge news for fans of the heritage beauty brand and lovers of 90s supers, Christy Turlington Burns has been announced as the newest global ambassador for Lancôme, proving that true icons never actually go out of style. While the rest of the world is chasing the latest fleeting micro-trend, Christy reminds us that timeless elegance is the ultimate flex.
The 57-year-old was chosen by the L’Oréal-owned luxury line due to her “innate femininity, proactive advocacy, and spirited outlook”, the company said in a statement, which is “perfectly aligned with Lancôme's mission to inspire joyful and confident living, making her an extraordinary voice for the brand”.
Turlington Burns shot to fame in the 1980s as a model and was one of the original supermodels along with the likes of Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Linda Evangelista. She is also known as a global maternal health advocate and filmmaker, directing and producing the documentary No Woman, No Cry in 2010 and founding the groundbreaking non-profit, Every Mother Counts.
“We are thrilled to welcome Christy into our collective,” said Vania Lacascade, Lancôme’s Global Brand President. “Her conscious optimism, sense of purpose and commitment to supporting women across generations perfectly embody Lancôme's values. We are endlessly inspired by her grace, wisdom and ability to create meaningful connections across communities."
As for Turlington Burns, she is equally as effusive by the appointment, saying: “Lancôme represents a legacy of French elegance and progress that has always resonated with me. I have long admired the brand's dedication to celebrating women at every stage of life and their commitment to meaningful values.
“As someone who believes deeply in supporting women's health and well-being, I am honoured to join a family that shares that vision and uses beauty as a platform for positive change.”
The eternally beautiful super joins Lancôme’s inspiring roster of ambassadors, which includes Julia Roberts, Olivia Rodrigo, Isabella Rossellini and Aya Nakamura, and has already been sharing some of her favourite picks from the Lancôme lineup. As well as being a huge fan of Teint Idole Foundation, she recently told InStyle that she’s an avid user of the whole Rénergie line, and that the award-winning, cult Bi-Facil eye makeup remover is the product she has used the longest. “It's like the go-to,” she says, “the blue bottle is iconic.”
I couldn’t agree more, and as for the partnership? I can’t wait to see what unfolds.
