Beauty review: meet the new Life Proof Satin Blur Foundation from MECCA MAX

If you check in here regularly of follow me on IG or TT, you’ll know that I’m a long-time, always-raving fan of Australian colour beauty brand, MECCA MAX. The price points and performance of their innovations are always elite, and I have way too many to mention always on high rotation. So when a new one drops I’m immediately committed to giving it a whirl, and this time it’s a new foundation formula destined to be an instant hit.

Called Life Proof Satin Blur Foundation, it’s a long-wearing, satin-finish formula that delivers buildable, breathable coverage combined with serious staying power. Vegan Society certified Vegan, never tested on animals, and available in 40 inclusive shades (all for just $38 AUD | $42 NZD), it feels light as a feather and goes immediately to work perfecting skin with a “your skin but better” finish. Whether sheered out for a natural complexion or layered for a polished glam, the versatile texture smooths, blurs, and enhances while keeping skin comfortable – which I love.

My immediate thoughts
I literally popped the cap on one of the samples I was lucky enough to be sent the moment the box landed on my doorstep, delivered with a fresh MECCA MAX Complexion Buffing Brush (one of my all-time faves, I have three on the go for cream blush, bronzers and the like) and MECCA MAX’s cult-favourite Life Proof Makeup Setting Spray, which is back in sleek new packaging. The first shade I grabbed was 180N, which was a little light for me but easily warmed with some bronzer and glided on like a dream. I discovered early on that a little goes a long way, especially when you prime the brush with product Katie Jane Hughes-style, and just one pump delivered a natural finish that still let my skin shine through. I took it up a little higher to cover the dark veins under my eyes (genetics, boo), and added a light dusting of powder over my T zone and then setting spray to lock it all in place. You can see the immediate end result in the main pic above - so easy and so natural!
MECCA MAX recommends you complete your routine with Life Proof Cream Concealer and Life Proof Tinted Pressed Setting Powder for undetectable, unforgettable coverage, but I kept things light and loved the end result. Seven hours later I managed to smudge my nose a little, but that was possibly down to a) being a clutz and b) not applying enough powder form the get-go. A rookie error!
The rest was still sitting beautifully, and could easily take me into an evening out with a little extra powder if that was the plan.
